I'm putting up a wood privacy fence to surround my backyard. I like the stained wood look and I'm going to do it myself, but there are a couple requirements.

    -6 foot high
    -Looks same on both sides
-Uses minimum amount of lumber possible
    -Completely blocks view (no see-through)

Anyone have any good designs or ideas?

I'm no carpenter but I'm handy with an air nailer and I've built my fair share of stuff. But lets keep it simple anyways

I have a bunch of fence to replace soon. I like the look of board & batten or overlap fence with a lattice on top.

Here's an example. I prefer a diagonal lattice but you get the idea. The structural side of the fence is attractive. You can use a design that is completely symmetrical without adding all that much material so there is no inside/outside.

I built a board on board (shadow box) by hand. You can buy the sections at lowes, HD or other lumber places. Doing it by hand was a pain and very time consuming; but the quality of my built vs. big box store is a ton better.

    With one side on.

All done for Fall to keep the neighbors leafs out.

In for this also. I need to replace all of my fencing about 20 panels. I got a quote for PVC but would like to see if wood would be cheaper. The posts are in good condition so I just have to take down the rotted stockade panels and put up something new.
