From Keith@APR - Head of our new APR owned operation in the UK.

    Hello Everyone,

There has been quite a bit of a stir going on as of late regarding APR's v3.1 ECU Recalibration for factory equipped Ko4 turbocharger engines.

APR has recently released v3.1 for all ED30/Pirelli Edition's, SLC R's, Golf R's, Scirocco R's, TT-S' and S3's developed, tested and approved for the UK market.

APR UK's Golf R was the primary development car so we will start with the results of it thus far.

    2010 VW Golf R DSG Stage 2+

    APR v3.1 ECU Recalibration
    APR High Pressure Fuel Pump
    VWR Induction System
    VWR Turboback Exhaust
    VWR Anti-roll Bars
    VWR Lower Engine Mount
    VWR Coilover Suspension
    VWR Braking System
    Haldex Performance Controller

Our first timed testing event was a few weeks ago at Santa Pod Raceway with yours truly behind the wheel:

Some of you may have seen Jonny's thread here http://www.vagoc.co.uk/vb/showthread...0722&showall=1 and as we had planned to run the Golf R at the MLR 30-130mph day we ended up at Bruntingthorpe instead.

With Jonny Cocker behind the wheel and some help with the launches from a wet surface we were able to achieve the following:

    0-60 MPH - 3.5 Seconds!

    Quarter Mile - 11.9 @ 115.5 MPH!

As we finish up our dyno installation project at our office in Milton Keynes, we will release Official Power Figures for v3.1 but here are some unofficial results in the meantime:

SEAT Leon Cupra R Stage 2+ APR v3.1 APR HPFP in Denmark:

Please feel free to update this thread with any other performance measurements you may have achieved with APR's v3.1.* Eventually I will build a database in this thread to document all of the various dyno graphs, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, etc.

Will there be an update for US based K04 cars as well?

It is just stage 2+ or does the update apply to all stages?

If you give us a call we can see if the software is ready for your TTS. If not, we can make it ready in an hour or so.

    Hi
I had my TTS remapped with a stage 1 tune 6 months ago in NZ. Does this mean there is an update to that tune?
    Cheers
    Paul

It's currently single program on the TTS.

Yes, there should be. If we don't have it on the server, we can add it.

Well had the update done. Holly hell the car is so much quicker then the previous tune. It feels like there is a big increase in torque in the mid range and just wants to keep pulling to red line.

    Arin
If you read this, I have a manual gearbox, with the traction control turned on and the car stationary the engine wil only rev to 4000 rpm with the accelerator pushed to the floor. Is there anyway you can write code that would allow that to happen with the traction control turned off. It would be a fantastic launch control function, similar to the dsg cars but instead of stepping of the brake just step off the clutch.

    Cheers
    Paul

What do we need in supporting mods and is this any better than the giac tune I currrenty have.

  14. 07-23-2012 02:50 PM #14
This is just a stage 1 tune I have, so no other mods required. Can't comment on other tunes but I believe APR can do a trial tune, so maybe give it a go and see for yourself.

Well after updating the remap to v 3.1 I have since developed a problem with the car. The rpm flares around 400 rpm when you are cruising above 3500 in 3,4 and 5 gear and you floor the throttle. Apr here seem to think it s the clutch slipping, but have taken it to numerous places and the say it's not the clutch. I thought about the problem for awhile and decided to disconnect the actuator arm for the flap in the exhaust, this has now solved the problem it no longer has the rpm flare under acceleration. I have sent a number of emails to apr but have failed to get a reply regarding this issue.

So RPM jumps 400 RPM, then falls back right after hitting the accelerator? That does sound a little like clutch slip.

You said it's cured with the exhaust flap disconnected? What happens if you're just in sport mode (flap open).

It's a 2008 TTS no sport mode button on the early models. I have taken the car to numerous places they say it deffinately isn't the clutch slipping. Unfortunately the apr reps in New Zealand are not mechanics or tuners, they are just car enthusiasts.
