Remote key fob 2003 Golf TDi?

Hi, I have recently bought a 2003 Golf TDi Estate. The car only came with the basic key, with no remote control flip key.
I know I can get a key fob to suit, but don't know:
1. Will my car be compatible with a remote control?
2. If it is, do I need a 2 or 3-button remote?
3. How do I find what frequency control I need?

I would appreciate any advice!

Not sure if a generic fob can be coded.

If you get an actual OEM key I believe you can use VAG COM to have it coded to the immobilizer in your car. If you buy a fob from the dealer it'll be pricy, but they'll code it for you.
