Mk4 radio trim question

Hey guys trying to figure out how to fix my interior trim support. Seems like I cracked the notches holding the brushed trim in place so seeing what I can do to fix this or what others have done in the past. Thought about double sided tape but I feel like it would stick out too far...

You can get double sided adhesives that are very thin. Not all of them are foam.

I've been out of the printing industry for a few years, so I forget the exact product numbers, but look for 3M. They make thin double-sided adhesives in a range of adhesive strength, from barely there to almost Super Glue. You might try Lowes or Home Depot as well.
