MKV Rabbit LED Third Brake Light - $71.95

The Hella LED third brake light is a swell starting point for customizing your VW's exterior lighting. Just pop out the old light assembly, and pop in a new one.

Brighter than the OE light it replaces, the LEDs also light faster, for added safety. The smoked lens is a subtle presence until it comes on bright red when braking.

Will this work with the MK5 GTI with the third brake light that is not flush with the spoiler?

3 clips on top / 4 clips on the bottom (As shown in the photo above where the notches are)

You can use are trim tool removal kit to pop the stock one out then disconnect the harness, then install the new unit.

Tool kit is useful for countless tasks besides just the light. The instructions with the new light show exactly where to pry from and the new light shows right where the tabs are. A bit of silicone spray will make it easier too.

I did this mod myself in a matter of minutes once I saw the instructions. The unit is super nice and having an all LED rear end is priceless (or costly depending on how you look at it!)

    GL!

Yes, then you will have them for other interior installs too. This upgrade really cleans up the rear hatch!
