    Should be fine if you have UL Listed components and likely you do. UL listed components, if they fail, must fail in a way that is not dangerous to people and property. Do you have a GFCI outlet, a GFCI breaker or an AFCI breaker? The second or third may explain a breaker trip even without a short circuit. It's not clear, however, if you had a short at the plug. If you have a GFCI outlet, did that trip too?

    It appears that it was at the plug. The outlet GFCI tripped as well. I'm going to attempt to replace the outlet today.
