Check out this strange looking digital camera made by IKEA out of cardboard. It was included as part of a press kit at an event in Europe recently, and apparently the “disposable” camera might go on sale sometime soon in IKEA stores. It uses two AA batteries and stores up to 40 photographs in the built-in memory. Images can be downloaded to your computer using the USB connection that swings out from one of the corners of the camera.

Contacted my local IKEA asking when these would be in, they gave me a "lol wut" in response. Hopefully they come out soon. Depending on price I may buy a few

Also, I'm trying to figure out who is going to be the first person with a gallery show from this camera.

For a disposable, sans flash, I'm surprised it still needs two AA's.

How else do you expect it to write to the card? Or to power on the sensor? The only time I've seen a camera need less than 3v was for older cameras where a 1.35v powered just the light meter. Though in a few cases it powered the automatic functions of the camera as well (QL17)

I'm less concerned about the volts as the battery size.
    AAA's couldn't do it?
    Watch batteries?

    Gotchya

EDIT: Looks like the press release is wrong, the batteries say "LR03" on them, which is AAA

You think Rockwell will test one?

Bought one a few days ago on eBay, should be getting (hopefully) soon. But it has to ship from Sweeden so who knows how long it will take. Can't wait to do a write up on it!

Also, bought two domains and made another website:

    www.knappagraphy.com
    www.ikeaknappa.com

They both lead to the same place! But I encourage you to sign up! There isn't much on there now as it just went live a little while ago. But expect to see a lot of new stuff soon
