The system goes into discoverable mode for 3 minutes after you turn the ignition ON.
From there, it should show up as a device on your phone.
I connected my iphone once but deleted the pairing because I was having the same issue as many, it would play music from my Iphone automatically and thus drain the battery. Now I cannot get my Iphone to recognize the VW Phone device at all. It just keeps searching for a device to pair too. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a way to remove the pairing from the radio itself? I have the Fender RCD 510. It does not have the display in the instrument cluster, the only way I know how to pair the phone to the car is through the phone, and that's not working.
It does nothing no matter what I push. If I push the phone button on the radio or on the steering wheel it mutes the radio, but otherwise nothing happens when I push the bluetooth button. I seem to have no phone function at all, nor do I have any phone menu. When I push the media button, there is no "BT Audio" at all. I have "CD", "SD Card", and "Media In" on the screen.

I've done that. Right now my phone is not paired with anything, but after I turn on the ignition with the car in park, on the bluetooth screen on my phone, it will not find the device for the car. It just searches and searches. I've tried countless times. I guess I will have to get ahold of the dealer. Maybe it's a problem with the device as opposed to a problem with the phone.
I do not think the model I have can do that. From what I can tell, the device in the car is automatically discoverable for the first three minutes after turning the car on, while parked. I have not found, in the book or on the web, any way to have the car device search for the phone. Nor have I found how to delete the phone pairing on the car device. I have the premium sound package, no navigation and no in dash screen for the Bluetooth.
That happened to my bluetooth module. If the button on the steering wheel doesn't speak, the module is probably faulty. I had my 2011 jetta one replaced in oct 2011 for the same thing. Probably something more serious, as yet again my bluetooth isn't working again! This time it's a one way connection, it recieves audio only from phone calls if I manage the call from the phone, all else is busted. yeah for having to deal with service AGAIN! Good luck!
