Miller has come up with another lame marketing tactic using their packaging.

    http://www.brewbound.com/news/2012/m...m_medium=email

I don't see any actual benefits or differences from punching a hole in the top of an open can. Maybe I'm missing something? The literature states: “In our testing, consumers told us they prefer the Punch Top Can three-to-one over the standard beer can because it’s more like drinking from a pilsner glass."

Really? Is it that difficult to pour into a glass? Half the reason for using the glass is to be able to use your sense of smell to actually taste the beer. I don't see a key hole punch in a can making a difference for a beer that does't offer much in the way of aroma. Anyhow, if this is your cup of tea, enjoy.

I read some article somewhere that since most consumers view Miller/Michelob/Bud Light all as pretty much the same thing, they have to sell on marketing stuff like this and on lifestyle stuff to grab consumers from the other brands.

They say it pours smoother with a second hole.

Is the average BMC drinker really concerned about a smooth pour?

    I doubt it.

You have to wait the entire 20 seconds for the foam to go away though!

I drink Guinness more than anything... and I have to wait like 5 minutes for the foam to leave.

Its for frat guys and your drunk uncle to "shotgun" at the tailgate party. Miller just cant say that in the ads because it promotes alchohol abuse

I like some as a good head lets off the aroma of the beer. However, I don't like a lot on top, so I wait.

I prefer getting peed on to getting pooped on. That doesn't mean I'm going to spend my money doing either!

    Self-Shotgunning beer. Hmm.
I've got a bunch of high end vintage audio gear I'm clearing out, restored Marantz 4270 - better than new condition; Pioneer SX-5590, 8/10; Concept 16.5, 8/10 cosmetically - 10/10 function. Various high end vintage speakers: Rectilinear Research, AR, Kenwood, Infinity, McIntosh, Leslie 251. PM me for details, clearing out to finance home theater upgrade.

Easier to ash smokes and spit dip into empties--no more wrecking your thumbs

Edit - just now watched the video. WTF? Not even remotely effective for shotgunning.

For what reasons is it an amazing idea? I don't see any functionality that makes it spectacular or any different than a regular can, for that matter.

They stopped selling Miller Lite over here a few years ago. No one bought the stuff, they advertised it as Miller Pilsner and it was a big flop. Pretty sure you can find it at certain places... but you'd have to really look. A shame, I miss Miller

When we tailgate, we like to shotgun a couple beers.

This just means the lot-cops can't get mad at us for poking holes in cans with a knife. heheh
All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated and well supported in logic and argument than others.

That's what I was thinking of too. But I had never heard the term church key. So I looked it up ---and proceeded to spend the next 20 minutes reading about the history of can openers
