Anyone have experience with the umarex or ati's gsg? Looking for a fun 22 to shoot and I love the mp5. But I'm weary about buying one of these. Skeptical of the quality.

I know this is a little late, but how do you like it? How's the quality? I'm pretty interested in getting one also.

They're a total giggle factory. I rented a GSG-5 at one point, and that made the decision for me. I ended up buying a S&W M&P-1522 because that way the controls and operating principles are all the same as my "real" AR for training and such.

22 caliber copies of "real" guns are great - you shoot them cheaply and yet you can still get some good training out of them along with your fun, if you choose the gun well.

I love my GSG-5. As SilverSLC says, it's such a giggle factor when shooting them and you can shoot them all damn day long with this look on your face -> . The only problem I've found is related to the ammo. .22LR is so dirty that after a while it starts to foul the chamber and can result in feeding issues, particularly if you use high-velocity ammo. This is easily fixed though, I find a dab of oil around the chamber does the trick. I wish they would have included an oil port in the bolt carrier.

I've thought about picking up a GSG-5 "pistol" and doing an SBR + suppressor combination. Going to be a bit spendy but should be a lot of fun .

I still haven't shot mine yet. Been shooting my AR a lot and just haven't had the chance. Plus I want to break it down and clean it first and have t had time. It's definitely feels like a solid gun, aside from the plastic stock that's the only part that feels cheap.

I'm still waiting for the Stg.44 and the MP40...

If they continue to delay them I may have to pick up the .22LR Mare's Leg...

    Wait, WHAT?

Who makes that? I didn't know it existed, and I may need one.

Sounds good. I'm definately going to get one too. I want to get my girlfriend in the range too so one of these will be perfect.

I've heard mix reviews about the umarex and gsg. Which one do you guys like?

I looked into both, gsg seems to be more popular and most reviews are positive.

Nice. Most of the changes don't bother me but I wish I had the hk style front sight.
