The car looked best in the 1st picture. No offense but you haven't done that car any favors.

my car started out like this
then i added a roof rack,fairing,vr6 spoiler lip,and painted the grill black
then i took off the jetta III and gl badges, fogged the tails and replaced the emblem because the old one's painted had faded off
i also added custom gauge faces and a flag behind the back seat
the only real performance issues i have had were the breather hose and the oil pressure sensors
i am hoping to get these rokkor coilover soon
i also now have a 3 bar badged grill because my car was backed into and it shattered the grill and the right headlight. but not it is all back to normal. i will post more pics once i have coils and stuff

Maintenance, suspension, wheels. Keep it simple and clean. The grill and taillights seem like you got bored and went crazy with spray paint. I'm not sure what to think of the cluster.

x2.
Don't go painting a grill completely black on a white car. It looks like you were too lazy to paint the bottom.
Now, spraying your tails completely black is a dumb idea. It's illegal, and visibility plummets.
You should not buy Rokkors because they are extremely bouncy. If you're going to buy cheap coils, buy Racelands.
Do maintenance before anything else.
Maybe replace the all black tails with some GLX tails, or all reds. Get a correct color grill. Texture top the bumpers and rub strips. Lower it. Do some basic performance modifications: Intake, Exhaust, Chip. It'll look 100% better.

I did the same with my tails personally I like the look, however, I strongly recomend converting to LEDs, huge difference in brightness.
also dont go with Rokkor if you drive two or more miles per day you will regret it. Looks cool but as they say, you get what you pay for in the ride quality department.

right now i have a 3 bar grill that is only black (bought it that way from a discount part store.) i am planning on painting the bottom and sides white and only having the 3 bars black which was my original plan anyways just don't have the white paint or a clear coat yet. the tails were just a cheap mod but i will look into leds and racelands instead of rokkors. i have also been thinking about taking out the gauges i have and doing a mk4 cluster swap. i also want to get some 17" bbs with wheel spacers. also, any advice for rolling fenders besides the baseball bat method? that is the way two of my friends and some guys on youtube did it. thanks!

just finished doing a custom headliner. was a bit of a pain,i just did straight black for now. i will take pics tomorrow when it is light out and i will take a picture with the new grill since i haven't done so yet. my coilovers are hopefully coming in tomorrow and i'll put them in on thursday

racelands aren't that bad. I think I only drive about 150 miles of suburban driving a week though. I used to have a 95 wrangler on leafs and racelands are less bouncy than that which says alot. I also don't have low profile stretched tires, which is going to make for a rougher ride. In my opinion, a daily mk3 like mine doesnt even deserve better than racelands haha.

Good plan with the grill, the headliner I actually like, glad you went with black and not some trendy gaudy fabric. Work on getting black visors and getting some matching fabric on the sunroof cover![]()
And word to the wise, if you want to enjoy those coils, don't slam your ish with them, just go cup kit drop height or maybe a little lower, anything more and they will ride like complete ****. Ask me how I know![]()
As for wheels, I personally like a nice set of 17's. Just remember, nothing from les schwab
And pleeease do not roll your fenders with a bat, that's ghetto and they will not come out well. Do it the right way with a heat gun and fender roller.
And those tails scream 'I'm 16, pull me over' I would get some red/(factory)smoked tails, or the red/amber ones and get the red overlays. All reds on white 3's looks tits![]()

thanks,i am happy with how he headliner turned out. i went to the junkyard to find black interior parts but couldn't find any. somebody told me to try a cabrio because they had black dome lights, visors and what not. i was thinking 17"s with spacers (not from les schwabb, hopefuly some black bbs lr's with red hub caps and a red lining on the brim. and i for sure don't want to roll my fenders with a bathaha as for the tail lights,i have been looking into glx tails, couldn't find a whole set from the junkyard.

zomg are you gonna track this car when you get your time attack wheels?

putting the coilovers on took forever! now that i know exactly how to do it,not that big of a problem though
#29
so are you gonna lower it?

looks like your grille or headlights need to be fixed/straightened. Id probably color match the grille regardless if thats the "standard" or not.
maybe you didnt fully clip it in?
Go to a building at night and be like 30 feet away from a wall and adjust your lights like that.
those tails reminded me of the guy from star trek.
whats up with the rack fairing? it looks bent up or something?
If you like it that all that matters![]()

Get an oem leather steering wheel OR if you are going to get one of the ones you posted make sure they come with the NOS buttons on or demand your money back.

I think people are just saying that a simple oem looking steering wheel will look a lot nicer. I'm too cheap right now to buy one...only reason mine looks like rice. But car looks nice after the drop. nice rack too![]()
