    CSB.

Tuners are already in the 10's and will probably hit 9's in a few months, maybe less. The manuals have been putting down low 500whp numbers.

I will possibly get to drive one in a few weeks or so. Awesome time to be a car enthusiast.

    Schmosby,

I do believe that the ZL1 has the LSA, not the LS9. Smaller displacement supercharger and some component differences. CTS-V has LSA.

That it is. That ZL1 looks sweet, and the 2013 GT500 should impress when it rolls out as well.

Though while where on the subject of the hilarious power numbers being thrown down by modern performance cars I feel I have to mention the new MB M157 AMG 5.5TT's, these things with a simple tune are just beasts, props to Benz for this powertrain and I'm a Bimmer guy all the way.

    Oh lordy.

Still can't compare to the mad sounds the 6.2 produces though. But damn those power levels are comparable to the V12TT's from not long ago.

The M5/X5M engine produces similar power with a tune. The real beast was the twin turbo V10 RS6. Too bad we never got it here.

not a Camaro guy at all, but I gotta say this car is pretty bad ass, but from Ive seen they are doing poorly in 1/4mi perfermance thus far, but put it on a road coarse and have some fun with that suspension technology

The ZL1 is an impressive car. I had the opportunity to see one in person at the philly auto show, but i have yet to see one on the street. Looks great in black.

    $54,000 Camaro! Are they nuts!
    A Corvette convertible is cheaper.
A Corvette Grand Sport is only $2K more.
    I'd rather have 2 - V6 Camaros
    I'd rather have 2 - FR-Ss
    Or maybe 6 - S2000s

    Pfffttt.

Seriously, very good time to be out shopping RWD cars. Very good indeed.

As much as i love this car, i'd still rather the Shelby 500, this thing is a heavier feeling car, power aside it feels like a pig. (I drove one for a week in SS form)

all that said, i'd take one in a heartbeat as it would make a nice stablemate to my 80 Z.

So the race is now between the Americans and the Germans. Where are the Japanese in all of this? Other than Nissan, out to lunch . . . .

I doubt this thing drives anything like the SS. Hell, I doubt the '12 SS's drive much like the '10-11 versions in the handling department.

I'd probably pick the ZL1 over the GT500 if it came down to it. I think the Camaro looks better and the power gap is pretty easily solved.

These things are an absolute bargain. Fantastic vehicles, likewise the mustangs.

It's probably a little obvious, but I don't particularly care for the camaro--any camaro. BUT, I really like what GM did with the ZL1. The one I saw at the philly auto show was black and looked great. I love the body and wheel upgrades and who can really complain about a blown V8. The interior design and weight however, are the major reasons why I would never buy a ZL1. Especially in light of the lower weight and greater hp in the mustang.

Holy Moly, this thing is sexier than Jessica Alba when it's painted black. I might have to rob a few banks and buy one.

have you driven a new Mustang in GT form or higher? It feels much lighter on its feet.
That's what ultimately would be the deciding factor between the ZL1 / Shelby GT500
No matter how you cut it, tune the chassis all you want, the mustang is still lighter, that makes a difference on all aspect of driving it.

that said, its a great time when camaro's have 580 factory hp.

    Maybe for you.

Ultimately, the GT500 will probably be quicker around the track and definitely at the drag strip. We shall see...

If Zues built a pillbox to defend mount olympus from the titans, he would give it 20 inch wheels and 580 hp.

    I love this car.
