A list of mods, all cars ever owned and something cribbed from a book, song and/or movie were all just here. Sorry you missed out on my unique, snowflake-like individuality.

For ~$50k this is pretty incredible.
I need to trade my son for one. He's more expensive but his 0-60 isn't as good.

I think overall they did a great job with the design.

Look at the vintage Camaro behind the ZL1. The new Camaro looks like a steam locomotive in comparison and steam locomotives were heavy. All that mass ads up quickly. The same can be said about the Mustang. While both of these amazing and extremely fast cars (Camero ZL1 and Mustang GT500) have a family resemblance to their forefathers I just can't warm up to either of them visually. High belt lines and chopped tops perched on huge wheels makes me think of portable WW11 pill boxes. If I had to choose one or the other I would choose the Mustang as it proportions, to my eye, look a bit less clunky or reminiscent of a Matchbox toy. Which car is the quickest? That conversation will be never ending - unless you live on a track or believe every car magazines tests. Driver input will likely be the deciding factor as to which car wins a race - on or off track. Bench racing requires no time slips and will continue to be enjoyed by all of us that might be just a bit shot on the funds needed to own one of these toys.

Have they improve the interior at all? I sat in Camaro a while back and was surprised by horrible it was.

I work at the company who designed the suspension components for that car! The SSX is imo one of the best looking Camaros to ever be photographed.
We should be receiving our ZL1 in about a week or so...
1. We can't wait to see what we can do with the Mag Ride suspension with these cars.
Or alternatively
2. We can't wait to tear it out and put our newest generation coilovers on it.![]()

I also saw my first one at C&C here in Vegas...wonder if it's the same one that was at the Irvine C&C.

Does anyone know when the 2013 Shelby is getting sent to print publications so we can have the Shelby v. ZL1 showdown?

This cars such a fail. 4000lbs, typical american fatness, it probably was made by mcdonalds employees, and ate ice cream for breakfast. No way this car will ever be any type of collectible ever. I'll go and drive my mk2 golf and laugh at you. Tubby Mcgee.

And it was all sarcasm.
I get people don't like that the car weighs that much, but it still is going to handle better than most cars on this forum. It's an amazing piece of engineering. The Anti-American sentiment is strong on this board, and it gotten pretty old. Especially now that most american cars are either ahead of the competition or right in line with them.

We received our ZL1 from the dealer yesterday.
Our first impressions are, they really hit the nail on the head for exactly what your Camaro enthusiast wants. It's big, comfortable, quick, and handles pretty well for a vehicle of it's size and weight.
Everyone in the office would much rather be driving our Z06... but it's a pretty neat car. It's going to be fun once we get a chance to tear into this thing and make some changes.

I have to be honest--I fail to see your point. The actual dash itself is made of fairly soft plastic--all the black items, that is. The hard trim over the dash (the silver pieces) isn't meant to look like grained leather, like soft trim you're referring to. It's supposed to look like the hard METAL trim in the classic mustangs that the car is styled after--it's not supposed to be soft!
The only legitmately poor looking hard plastic on the current mustang is the door cards, but even the new focus has similarly hard door cards. You learn to get over it once you start it up and begin driving.
The camaro also has throw-back interior design. And the overall dashboard on the car looks ok, but it's the DESIGN (not so much the materials) details that bother me. The shape and placement of gauge surrounds is not pleasant to my eye. I can stand the look of the stereo and the HVAC controls while more compact than the mustang, don't look as pleasant. It all has a cheaper look to it, IMO. I really like that GM gave the Camaro those extra gauges by the shifter, but I also don't like the resulting styling. Overall, there are more awkward looking items in the interior and while the wall of button may look a tad busier, the overall design of the mustang blends better and is simply more coherent, IMO. I also hate the steering wheel on the camaro.

The thing that really bothers me about the Camaro is how claustrophobic it feels inside...the size of the windows and A-pillar and the high belt-line....
If I can afford one, between it and GS Corvette, that might drive me towards the Vette....
I love how the ZL1 looks though, its positively evil looking...

Check out a base trim V6 or GT (you might even notice it in the Boss as well), it's really dark if you opt for the black interior. Mine is really dark because it doesn't have the silver dash trim like the mustang posted above.
As I think you're stating, these cars are what they are. Modern day pony cars with a retro design. Something about the design of the camaro interior just rubbed me the wrong way ever since I first sat in one. The mustang isn't a model of interior design, but it's far less offensive to look at, to my eye.

does it come with rivets?

This car is going to need some work, but it's not bad for a factory Camaro.
It aint no Z06 though...

So whats the meaning of these cheap high powered beasts? A last hooray before the government puts a stop to the madness or is this just the beginning?
The thing i guess is that these cars are not particularly bad on fuel either. Not like super cars of yesteryear. So does that mean they are sticking around or will the nanny-state step in eventually, somehow?

I think the mustang's interior is a hell of a lot better than this:
I sat in both, and between feeling like a midget in a bathtub, and the clusterf*ck of an interior, I wouldn't buy one.
I respect the ZL1, but my money (if I had any) would go to a GT500.
EDIT: if I had money, it would go to a Z06.
