i created my website to host my work i need some critics

So i created my website to host all of my photos in one central location and for when people want to contact me they can go through my website. So can you guys gals check out the site and give me your Opinions i did everything myself and i am not the greatest so any feed back would me much appreciated...

Jeffery , this some pretty good stuff. You have a a good design sense . The next thing you need to do to get to the next level is try and work with some real professional models and makeup people. The work as it stands now has a friends and family feel to it. I know it's hard to do with a small budget but it will make a world of difference. Try and find people that will work with you in exchange for pictures.

To be honest there are any number of poor shots in there. If you were posting this site for giggles and C&C that's one thing. To offer people a professional experience if they decide to hire you I think is more than a bit of an oversell after looking through the different examples.

To aspire to do this is one thing, to know when you are ready to do this is entirely another.

There is a good way to go with the lighting, exposure, focus, composition in most of the shots. Hard work can get you there should you choose to pursue it to the point where you can competently offer yourself out there to people to earn payment. If I was you I'd not think I was ready to shoulder the burden of shooting a wedding in the least as if you blow it it's more than a bit of a problem for the client as there is no redo.

You need to walk before you run, those shots are well before even the walking stage.

Your most constructive path would be to get rid of the services offered part and seek C&C for a few of the shots in here or other photo sites that "you" think are "your" best and post them hear fully prepared to be ripped apart. Don't be overly sensitive to the comments but take from them what you can to learn and apply to the next photo's you take, post again, repeat the C&C process.

The other valuable skill you will need to learn is the ability to self edit. You need to learn a site used to sell yourself in the wide open world of the internet is best used to display your "best" work, not simply all of it. Go through your site with an honest critical eye and you will see you are not presenting only your best work by a long shot. Potential clients don't want to see poor shots and past clients want to see poor shots even less. Developing this skill will carry you far if you choose to get serious about what you stated was your hobby.

Like anything be honest with yourself and you'll realize now is not the time to sell oneself but to learn as much as you can to prepare for the day when it all comes together and you actually can provide what you intend with your "behind the lens" tab. The photos shown for example lead directly to a clear impression of not being able to follow through on the aspiration presently.

Just remember that's not to say in the least you can't get there...

hey thanks for your response i do appreciate it and certainly take all you said into Perspective...i do agree with a lot of what you said and do not disagree... again i am just starting out. but i do take my work serious and i understand that it all takes work and practice and time i do have some editing to do to my website and i agree i need to take down a lot of the pictures off my site as its not a gallery but more suppose to be a portfolio. i do actually offer my services for paid Gigs/ work and i have covered 2 weddings already and both customers were happy with the out come of photos my 2nd wedding was a referral from the bride and groom of 1st Wedding. But again i certainly do understand that i still have a long way to go in developing my skill set as a photographer. Also i do have another thread on here were i post up my work and asked for critics and comments and i have been getting a lot of Good feed back and have been applying what i have heard and learned........ the Good the Bad and the ugly

I feel with your site, less can be more, like when one folder for a person has 6 shots of the ALMOST similar shot, some should be deleted, and while you're shooting, think, outfit change, new concept.
