98k miles ...

...and drive shaft finally "broked." ordered one from vertex auto in FL. will get it tues or wed next week. plan to change it myself.

should i drop the exhaust to replace it or wiggle it in between? any other pointers/tricks?

You can wiggle it out. Get a rubber mallet ready too, the rear of the drive shaft sometimes needs some coaxing to remove. If you are doing the repair without a lift, two very important things, jack stands (properly placed) if you plan to lift the vehicle completely off the ground, or wheel chocks if you plan to do an on ground repair (the truck WILL ROLL once the shaft is disengaged... Be Safe!

Thanx for your info. Should the car be in neutral, drive or park, or it doesnt matter?

It will have to be in neutral for part of the process so you can get access to all the bolts to the rear diff flange.

Use a long close ended wrench to get enough torque on the bolts.
