Hey guys I have a 88 golf last night I got in my car after work started just fine turned my lights on nothing happened. My rad fan is also wired to my ignition and that does not turn on as well plus and my radio etc. I checked and replaced fuses and re wired the two things behind my fuse panel and the only way all these items work is of the headlight switch is on and I pull the high beam lever every thing turns on I'm so lost any ideas?

well if you know the headlight switch has something to do with you need to get a volt meter and start tracing wires i would start with the entire headlight circut if it wont work with the low beams on but it will with the high beams on its probably a short or bad wiring around the switch so start there
most want it to look good..... i just want it to go fast

yes... i have an addiction and yes my driving record reflects my addiction.

So I'm not to good with wires but I tested the switch the bottom two in the corner of the switch had the 12v no other ones had a power reading. Then I tested where the wires clip into the turn signal/highbeam. And it seemed as if olny the left side of that clip had power as well . Idk what else to check nothing seems to work...

Please do your self and any future owners of your car a favor. Do not wire your fan to a switch or to the ignition. Repair it the correct way and it will be one less problem to worry about.
