Hey all,
picked up this audi A4 B5 1.8T Quattro this past tuesday for $4k. It has 144XXX miles so I would like to think I got a good deal on it.
Dome of the things which I know of right now that will need to be fixed/changed:
- Ride Height - right now the suspension is so high and it squeals bad
- Sound - one of the rear decklid subs is blown so I will most likely be redoing the whole stero with a SQ build with Ipod, usb and bluetooth hookups
- Drivers side rear window - it wont do jackshi* so it needs to be fixed
If you guys have any suggestions on any of the above I would super-gratefully appreciate it and I would love help finding some cool mods you guys have done. I have been looking around the forums ever since I got it!!

Just looking for someone to point me in the direction of some good tasteful mods that would look nice

What I've done so far I enjoy:
Forge Motorsports Turbo Inlet pipe (there are different brands, they all look to be about the same)
Forge Motorsports 007 Diverter valve (get the 008, about the same price but newer and nicer IMO)
Sportiva 35w HID headlights slim ballast kit (literally fits in your headlight, cant tell its aftermarket until you remove the headlight)
If you want to go tastefully low, I have neuspeed sport springs, 1.25" drop from stock height, also some bilstein shocks/struts to go with them would be good since yours are garbage anyway
AEM 5" Brute Force Dryflow air filter (simply remove your stock airbox, leave in the heatsink attached to the bosch chip, and pop it on 2.75" inlet or whatever, 5" length)
The filter and the diverter valve made my turbo come alive. Simplest mods you can do.
Some other things are a test pipe with 034 motorsports 02 spacer to pass emissions, but they're a real PITA to swap.
TurboXS also makes a pretty nice exhaust you can find on ebay.
As for your blown subwoofer you should leave your system OEM and just replace the subwoofers. Perfect system for a DD IMO. If I had bose I deff would not have the system I do now in my car
Just a few suggestions.

I live in NY. Roads around me do not permit lowered whips. I can't even rock rims bigger than my 17s without major risk of bending the **** out of them.

A lot of people have ST Coils since they are basically a galvanized set of KW variant 1's. HPA Motorsports sells them for ~ $725.

Update 4/29/2012
here are the things I did today
1. Fixed Bose rear decklid speaker
I took of the deck lid and then found that the dome in the middle of the speaker had become unglued so I simply super-glued that back on ..... Pictures on that soon.
2. "fixed" rear drivers side window
After attempting to fix it several times and repeatedly removing the door car I found that one wire was shorting and then had became severed all-together I rigged up some new wire in there and electrical taped it in place.. Picture up soon with a more long-lasting fix on that as well

Does anybody have some good components they put in the doors/ rear deck-lid to replace the bad-sounding bose that came factory?

The rears are 5.25. The rear deck lid are 6" or 6.5" woofers.
I used alphasonik component speakers for my rear deck lid. Impressed by the speakers themselves, but not the crossovers that come with them.
If you're looking to stick to your bose system, replace the rear woofers with 6" or 6.5" Woofers of your choice. There aren't many out there but I think power acousik has a decent one for cheap.
As for your door speakers these are a decent price and since you don't have any factory places to mount a tweeter the 2 way speakers are nice and cheap and these are actually nto bad for the price

Okay then ... How bout woofers should I just go with two 6" or should I port a twelve or something ? ... I want sq not necessarily super bass

My 5.25" speakers in my doors are mounted like ****. I wish I bought smaller ones. Lesson learned. If you have bose, you should just use the OEM fronts if they're still good.

Door TEMPORARY fix:
So I opened up the door on sunday real quick and didnt find anything, tried the window, It Worked!!
put the door card back on and it didnt work
so I pulled the door card off and the process repeated about 3 more times... Finally I got smart and started checking wires and found that one of the wires was helld together by quite literally a thread
SO next I got some heavy gauge speaker wire for home theater and took off the second wire and electrical taped them together like so....
![]()
This weekend Ill completely re-do this single wire
**on a separate note I found found some thing odd:
after turning the car on I have to open and re-close the passenger door or the overhead light will just stay on signaling the door is open ... what could cause this.
Also.. how can I get the lcd screen in the center of the cluster to work ... should I just buy a whole new cluster/ go to junkyard and pick one up?
DUBBER.DOES.IT

They're mounted crappy because I didn't have adapters handy so they don't sound amazing, still sound good tho.
As for your cluster LCD, buy a new one on ebay for about 50-75$ and put it in. Anything you get from a junkyard will have dead pixels.
As for your rear subwoofers, if you want your trunk space hook up whatever system fits you. I have 2 10" sonys in a ported box I got for free running off an Alphasonik amplifier (5 channel, runs all 4 speakers also) and my system is plenty loud for having sh*tty subwoofers.
If you'd rather keep your trunk and have alittle bump, just replace those 6"/6.5" woofers with something aftermarket. Such as these

Theres the LCD
Simple to replace. You can find mad videos and DIY's using google.
And for rims, you should find some OEM 17" or 18" rims, RS4 or A8 style are my personal favorites
