Thread: Opinions welcome: My post-apocalyptic ride

  1. 04-26-2012 07:21 PM #1
I'm an animator who's working on a film with this 6 wheel dune buggy/hot rod in it. The front axle doesn't make much sense so I'm wondering if you guys like it or not. Just finished the trailer with shots of the ride in question.

    Any opinions welcome. Cheers

In Sci Fi self aware slugs and robots are fine, but flawed mechanical design can get the geeks lighting their torches.

He clearly said axil. Not axle.

That's the reason why I'm not watching.

Yeah I mix up axle/axil & brake/break a lot when I don't pay attention to my typing. Sorry about that. No worries about boycotting my film based on a typo.

For the rest of you, thanks for your continued input

In for renders. And +1 on making it make sense. The other day I was watching a show about talking tools with my daughter and was upset about the mechanic's diagnosis of the broken truck

Handy Manny, eh? Yeah, I'm a dad, too.

Anim8or, your animation is considerably better!

I agree that it needs to appear to work. Those kinds of things really bug me, too. Having the front 4 wheels steer would be good, like the Tyrrell.

That is pretty bad ass, I must say. And the film looks quite interesting as well. As for the front axle, how does the front axle not make sense? I mean, in more details, other than, "it doesnt seem to work"
    Insert witty comment here.

Well the front axle doesn't make sense because there isn't one, in a way. I'll post more pics later today to show what I mean.

Make the exhaust sidepipes like an old corvette that shoot 10 foot blue flames out in front of the tires.

Also, maybe a gatling gun and the air scoop could be a cool shape.

I like the seat and details and tire chains.

Awesome. It's a lot easier to be a critic than create.

What about making the two front wheels, well, not wheels. Make them grinders of some sort to blow through angry robotic meanies therefor protecting your actual front wheels from contact. That way they'd not need to be functional from a drive or steering standpoint.

One of my biggest pet peeves right there. But besides that, nice video! I might watch the movie if it is able to live up to it's preview.

It looks sort of "insectoid", so the 6 wheel/limbs make sense to me.

Cool. You gotta post a stationary shot of the vehicle though...
Maybe configure the front axles similiar to a 2.5 ton rockwell?
Which the slugs would find a lot of in post apocolyptic USA...
