I know OT is more lightly moderated than most of the sub-forums, but if all the hot chick threads are getting shut down, would it be possible for threads/posts that are obviously started to get a huge racial poo-flinging contest going shut down too?
How can posts like these be considered acceptable?

Question: I see a lot of name-calling by current members. I also see a lot of profiles whose members have been banned for reasons unknown...
Out of curiosity and to keep from making any mistakes, exactly what kind of behavior does it take to be banned? Do people usually get some kind of warning first? (I'm sure of the obvious, like posting porn, using racial epithats, etc...)

Hi!
As far as banning goes: there are a very limited number of people here (as in 5 or 10) who have access to be able to ban people, and it's not something we take lightly. If a user is doing something inappropriate, the moderators will discuss that with them. If the behavior continues, eventually the moderators will talk to the Admins about it, and then one of us will speak to the user about it. If it still doesn't stop, then sometimes the only recourse we have is to ban people.
So yes, if you were doing something that was out of line, you would have heard about it from one of the moderators. The only exceptions to this rule are things like nudity, racial or other slurs, etc. Those are bannable with no warning.

Any chance that this post can get this stupid thread closed?
All you have to do is highlight it.

Yeah, you are right about his choice of words. I agree with you there, but he does have the right to say what he wants given it stays clean.
From the FAQ:
• Because of the volatile nature of the following topics: religion, sexual orientation, race, class, gender, and political opinion, users are advised against starting threads or entering posts expressing thoughts, beliefs or opinions on these topics. Any posts, threads, signatures, or biographies on these matters may be removed at the discretion of the moderators or administrators.
Advised against does not mean you can't.
Basically what I am trying to say to you is that a Mod already told you to report the post. What is your reasoning behind posting a thread like this?

No man, it does not bother me that you brought up the issue. That being said, don't make posts if your not ready to hear others opinions on the matter, same goes for him. You wanted attention, that is why you made this thread, same reason he made that post. You could have just reported it and left it to the powers that be and let him dig his own grave. You can do as you please, we who live in the USA are free. If you want this thread deleted, do so.

The last post in said thread was a very vivid attack against a certain group. Wasn't clean.
Whatever the case, some of the epithets expressed on that thread were completely without class. Uncle Reums? Seriously?
I believe in this country. Immensly. I love that we have freedoms that a lot of countries don't.
Although we have the freedom of speech, there are times when it's a totally bad idea to envoke that right; whether or not the response is legal or otherwise equally reciprocated.
Screem, "fk whitey," at a klan rally. Yell an ethnic slur in Little Havana. See what happens.
Case-in-point.
I agree with the fact that you shouldn't post something unless you're prepared for the potential response(s), but consider the following:
From FAQ's
THE BIG RULES: Violation of these rules is grounds for the IMMEDIATE banning of your account. If you think we’re kidding, think again...*In this case, the Uncle Remus comment was totally uncalled-for. Because of the obvious reference, this is considered an objectionable post and, therefore, against the posting rules.• No flaming of other members to incite or perpetuate a conflict or argument. ANY personal attacks or name calling will get you banned
• No linking or posting of pornographic or objectionable/inappropriate material.*
BUT... I will concede that we're kinda on the same page![]()

Exactly my point. You see nothing wrong with your statement? Guess racism aimed at caucasians is acceptable. How is that glass house treating you? Again, don't post if your not prepared to hear opinions from others.

Guys, take this elsewhere.
If there is a problem with a post, please use the "report post" button (the little "!" in a triangle at the bottom of every post) and we'll take care of it.
