'03 NB GLS Remote won't unlock doors and dome lights remain on

Looking for ANY possible solutions to my problems. These issues just manifested themselves over the course of two days. Here it goes:

The remote will not unlock the doors but opens the trunk with no problems leading me to believe that the battery in the remote is good. The remotes also locks the doors eventually after pressing it repeatedly.
The doors lock themselves after 15mph is reached so I don't think it's a door actuators are an issue.
The dome lights stay on and go off eventually after five to ten minutes or so. I think that's a battery saving mode of some sort though.

This is the first beetle that I've worked on so everything is still very new to me. I am mechanically inclined and not afraid of getting dirty. Also, if anyone can point me in the right direction as to where the fuse box is located, I'd appreciate it. There was no owner's manual when we bought the car used from a local dealer. Thanks to all in advance.

how difficult is that to change out? Should I take it into a shop? Thanks for your help.

outter door handle and inside door panel im tying to remember you might have to take window regulator out dealer ship should charge 2 hrs labor
