If you could rent a beater sports/fun car...assuming they are in good mechanical condition with, what would you pay for it?
Here are the cars:

1998 Wrangler softop
1998 Z3 4cyl
What would you pay?

I'm in for $25 a day.
Am I allowed to take the Wrangler off road provided it returns clean and free of dings/scratches?

that is actually a different business model. they focus mainly on vehicles that are only 1. a few years old (not like 15 or 20 years) and 2. typically in the camcord segment. i.e. appliances.
rent a wreck is a horrible business name by the way, it gives confused consumers the wrong message.

I don't know, the one time I rented from them, it was indeed a wreck. The tiny car (I think a Metro? so this was a while ago) was at least 5 years old and beat to hell. It WAS cheap though!
The funny part of that story is that we rented that to loan to a friend to drive so we could borrow his Ford Galaxie which was actually big enough to fit 3 people and their bikes INSIDE the car. Fuel was like .85 at the time which helped make this transaction feasible.![]()

well, you have to factor the rental fees as part of the buy-in for the avg vehicle
it should cover or chip in for : gas, maintenance, insurance
for a beater, you're paying for liability really
the pricing will have to be REALLY competitive (damn near free, just put in gas), considering zipcar charges per day/hour or something
or you can do it on an experimental basis, like pay what you can or think its worth
i think panera bread did that for one of its stores
