    1987 VW Scirocco 16 Valve

I was hoping to get some good information from some guys/girls that have been into VW's for a while. I picked up my Scirocco last month. Everything was great for the first few days before I realized it was overheating. I had the thermostat changed but then I realized I would have to fill up the expansion tank every few days. To make a long story short it had a blown head gasket. I ordered all the parts to get this fixed. I figured since the head was off I would go a head and order cams.

I order the Autotech cams and their valve springs and a Techtonics tuning cam gear. The car came with a Techtonic Tuning 2.25 exhaust. I'd really like to keep it NA and street friendly since this is my DD. It seems lke the only other mods I can get would be a header and Autotech's Fuel enrichment module. Even swap out the bottom end for a 9A. Any other mods that can be done that I haven't thought of? No Carbs or ITB's. Thanks for helping this VW noob

some of the mods your talking about swapping bottom ends just go turbo with light boost and swap the fuel system it can be DD with boost. why spend all that time and money when turbo is cheap and gives you way more power

turbo isnt cheap, to do it right atleast. 9a bottom end swap, plus cams would be a fun little daily driver.

Yep, that is a fun build as it is. Spend some time on the suspension, tires and brakes, and remember that half of the power to weight ratio is weight. See if you can shave some off.

In know what you mean, I've been working on trying to get my motor done for a long time now, but with money issues, it has been kinda taking for ever, i can only get a little bit at a time, but at least when its done its going to be worth it

and as punch bug said focus on the suspension and brakes too, when I'm going to do the motor the motor swap, I'm going to replace most of the front end like: all the old bushings, replace tie-rods if needed, maybe even ball joints too, the top hats for the shock towers, and any thing else that Looks like it needs to be replaced

I was thinking of sapping out the rear drums for rotors but I haven't seen any threads about it yet
