      We are going to see more of this. I just replaced that exhaust flapper motor on a 2009 CR TDI Jetta with 130,000 miles and it was completely frozen/rusted. Stay tuned for some Wiki page updates since this appears to be mechanical rather than just flash updated side effects. I will try to have those updated tonight with the basic settings tips.

      As stated above, this seems to be a purely mechanical issue and prevention/maintenance may just be also purely mechanical.

      saw one in the shop today that was totally frozen/rusted too. Clamps were almost welded on as well
