]They are targeting my engine bay. I have spoken with other people that park near me ( at my girlfriends apartment complex). They seem to take snails up into my engine bay and eat them poop and then bail. WTF Aside from this being gross Im more worried about them eating my wires. Luckily she is moving and I wont be there much longer.

Has anyone had this problem before?

Ill post pics when I get off work.

You still having problems. LOL. Deal Breaker . . . Return the car. It attracts rodents . . .

Other than that - you could always set traps near your tires for the little bastards.

thats dangerous! i would put a soda cap full of rat poison or some other type of deterrant in there overnight until you move. you could put it in the corner by the shock tower or right on top of the engine cover if you remeber to take it out before you drive. id hate to see that beauty sidelined for something silly like chewed up wiring. warranty wont cover that either. it would have to be claimed under your insurance if they were stand up enough to cover it for you.

good luck. hope those little rascals go away!

Don't poison them. They are going to your engine bay because it is warm. If you poison them, they will die in there. Probably crawl up in your intake and get cozy before they croak. That will be a fun mess to clean up...

Know anyone with cats? You could try putting cat hair all around the driveway where you park (assuming it doesn't all get blown away). Cat piss all over the engine cover would work best, but I wouldn't recommend that.

they wouldnt die in there....they would walk out wearily holding their necks choking and coughing. (in my best squirrel voice) "why?! why did i have to eat that!!". and then lay there on the driveway floor gasping for one last breath. "my dearest squirreletta, remember that s4 avant that got you on the freeway last year...well, im coming home to see you again."

dead squirrel found on driveway next morning....sweet revenge for the poopy mess he left you

thanks guys, ill be here all week

I had a mouse turn my washer fluid lines in my outlander gt to swiss cheese in my garage when we had a drought and 30 days of over 100 degree weather. Cost 250 to have a local shop replace all the lines front to back.

      Alive,

You have posted of this before. It is purely disgusting. Please do not post further. Nobody else has this problem. If we did, we would go to extremes to avoid it. As far as I can tell, your options are

      1. Marry your girlfriend, buy a house.
      2. Ask your girlfriend to move in with you.
      3. Break up with your girlfriend.

I can't help you with such a complicated decision, but I wouldn't stand idly by while my R is turned into a brothel for snail and slug eating rats.

      Best of luck,

Buy peppermint oil. Put some drops on a bunch of areas under the hood.
They HATE that stuff, and your engine bay will be minty fresh.

You installed a cat-less exhaust right? Put the cat back in your car or better yet throw two cats in that bitch. They'll eat up them nasty little idiots under the hood. Hood rats.....someone stop me.

They are ****ting on your engine cover to let you know you need an intake. I can't be the only one smashing through Carlsbad making obnoxiously loud turbo noises.

That is crazy... I would be worried about chewed wires and electrical fires. Hope you find a good solution soon.

Fear is your friend. If you catch one, hang the carcass from your front stabilizer bar as a warning to the others.

I'd have suggested trying the OEM anti-Marder kit (German "Marder"= English "marten"? at least that's what my dictionary says), which is designed to keep nasty small animals out of your engine bay where they might nibble on stuff, but apparently it does not fit on 4wd cars, so it's no good for an R

Still, maybe someone else who does not have an R might find this interesting:

some pics in this thread (might have to google translate it)

I had a squirrel eating nuts in my engine bay, then he started f-ing eating wires!! After I noticed this two weeks later I seen a dead squirrel ran over on the road in front of my house! Carma bitch!! No, but you better do something quick or your wires are next! Moth balls in a coffee can with holes drilled in it works. Good luck!

LOL at this. Don't take offense... I already told you it grossed me out, Alive by time.

That being said... I thought I was having that problem with my GTI. I took it into work and had the boys TEAR it apart and they couldn't find anything but they suggested mothballs... actually, I even posted a similar thread....
