I am changing the oil in the 01a trans. from a 1998 A4 V6 3.89 for my project B3 and noticed brass flakes in the oil. There is not a ton of it but how much is too much? No flake is really any larger than 1-1.5 mm. I dragged a 60lb magnet through the oil and no steel was found. Is this normal for a used trans.? Trans. purchased from a local dismantler with whom I have a long association but there is no mileage info. He'll warranty the trans. I'm sure but I would die to have to replace it again. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks,
