A friend of mine dropped his 16V Scirocco off at my house a few years ago, and has since lost interest in it and has asked me to sell it. So here goes:
I believe its an 88 16V Scirocco (might be 87). The car has a really nice motor in it. I don't know all the details but its a 9A block and a worked over PL head, and its putting out considerably more than stock power. Its been ported and polished and has an adjustable cam gear. Its got a stainless exhaust and high-flow Techtonic downpipe, and a full suspension (Neuspeed springs, braces, and Bilstein dampers). My friend is pretty anal about making sure the car uses the right parts and put it together himself. The body is in decent condition considering the age of the car. It's also got the CIS-E enrichment module and Teardrop wheels. The engine is almost new (literally a few thousand miles), and the suspension and exhaust probably don't have more than 30k miles on them. Clean title will be provided.
What's wrong with it? It's been sitting. It's missing the battery. It hasn't run in a while, but ran fine when it was parked. The mice have gotten to it, but the damage isn't severe, and with a little work, and not much money you should be able to make it work. The problem was there was some moisture infiltration into the cabin so there's some mildew in there, but I think with some work you should be able to clean it out and make it good again. Tires are probably also rather questionable. Dash has a few cracks in it on the top, and the driver's side door latch doesn't work correctly. You can close the door properly but you have to move the catch back before doing it -- it's kind of hard to describe, but I can show you.
I'm looking to get $1250, but will entertain offers. Even if you don't want the car, the engine, suspension, and wheels should be worth more if you parted it out. I will entertain offers though. I'll post pics soon.
I'm located in Woodstock, MD, a little north of Ellicott City and a little west of Baltimore.
The car's been sitting under a bunch of pine trees There is surprisingly little damage from this, most of the dark spots you see are just dirt. The paint is in pretty good condition. A wash and wax should make the thing look pretty good.
