I had a bad feeling when the "Crush" thread started going from "the chick from that band / movie / show" to "a chick I like on a porn site"...

But overall we went for 100 pages with 100% PG images. Shutting down a 100 page thread after a handful of contributors ruined it for everyone else is the lazy way out. If it's established that "PG" is acceptable but not "PG-13" and clearly stated, OTers can easily abide by that. Remove offending images and keep 'er going.

I would really like some more mods to pay attention to this thread.... and what we are all saying....

Why is a thread okay for 18 months.... and over 100 pages..... but all of a sudden because someone posts one bad image the thread is locked and the offending party is not banned (if I am wrong and the offending party was banned you should post who is banned and why.... if you publicly announced who was banned that would let use know you guys are actually trying to punish the person and not just punish everyone else).... SERIOUSLY WTF!!

Oh wait... the mods can enforce the rules how they want, when they choose, and because they can.... thats right.... and then on top of it we need to feel bad for the mods and appreciate them more

First off, please refrain from claiming that your rants represent what the rest of OT is saying.

If you're that unhappy w/ what's going on here, or how the mods do their job, why are you still here? You talk about a thread that was 'ok for 18 months', yet you're only here a year w/ barely over 200 (recorded) posts. With so few (recorded) posts, it doesn't seem like you contribute much to the forums.

Mike and Bill gave you a pretty reasonable explanation, if you don't like it, don't post here. (Although, if you keep poking the mods w/ a stick, that decision probably wont' be left up to you.)

Now that I'm not hammered I'll express my opinion a little more eloquently.

Frankly, I'm kind of bummed out because it was kind of neat to have started a thread that has run a year and a half and over 115 pages. It was also neat to have a thread to look at beautiful women that have come to front of people's consciousness for whatever reason.

I understand that the mods are trying to keep a certain image of the forum and that image they want doesn't include smut. I am frustrated with people's inability to determine what is smut and what is pics of pretty girls in moderately provocative to G rated clothing. I am also frustrated with the mods' reaction to these people's inability though. I guess I wish that the perpetrators would be punished, not myself and the others that enjoyed the thread. When people weren't following the rules in the funny picture thread they got banned for a week and the thread was left for others to enjoy. Why is it unreasonable to expect the same for the crush thread?

Oh ok, right. Because privately owned forums are all of the sudden a democracy? Do we vote here? Do you pay taxes to use the forum? No. It is their forum to run how they see fit. If they want to replace every half nude picture with puppies and unicorns as a policy then they can ****ing do that. If you don't like that, tough beans.

Everyone acts like moderators/admins owe them something. I am a moderator on another busy Jeep forum and it's a royal pain in the ass to babysit mostly adult men who should know better. There is definitely a line and I would have to say that in recent years with the addition of O/T that line was moved A LONG WAY OUT from where it once was. Some of you morons just keep pushing the boundaries and taking it for granted making the clean up and monitoring job that much more difficult. It all gets dealt with and removed in the end anyway so why create work for the volunteers who keep this site in line for your enjoyment?

I love a cheap laugh at some taboo stuff, but there is definitely a mutual respect to be had there and a line that just shouldn't be crossed. It's ok to hit the backspace key and the back arrow on your browser from making a stupid post that risks us losing O/T or having more restrictions.

There are people with lower post counts that are more valuable and people with really high post counts that are worthless and bring nothing to the table..... quite frankly you are sadly mistaken if you believe that post count means anything

I might be poking the mods with a stick but I feel like I have a legitimate complaint and there are other members that agree with me. Their explanations were not that great really and I forgot which mod it was that was basically complaining about the work it takes to be a moderator.... Just remember you agreed to do it and do not expect pity or sympathy from members when you complain about how much time it takes out of your life. I have been a mod on other forums and my roommate is the head of the Mass Effect Wikia site..... you signed up for it don't expect sympathy. (I tell that to my roommate all the time when he complains about the drama on that site lol)

Here is a SUPER simple concept.... clearly define the rules, punish the people who break the rules, have some sort of consistency, and stop crying about how much "work" it is to be a moderator

Here's the bottom line... 99% of the stuff in any of those threads is NSFW(Not Safe For Work). I don't know where you work. But if my owner walks in and sees me browsing pages of women in thong bikini's and lingerie, legs spread with their boobs spilling out all over the place, I'm going to have some explaining to do. That severely limits most of our abilities to effectively moderate a thread like that.

We've let things slide for quite a long time, and the limits of those threads were slowly pushed until we started finding nudes. It hasn't happened once, twice, three times... It happens regularly.

This forum has the most lax posting rules on this entire site. It's not just the mods, the administrators of this website are concerned with what's been going on in here lately. If that isn't a red flag to chill out, I don't know what is.

I don't know about you, but I like OT. At the same time, you need to realize that this forum is basically a gift to us, where we can talk about everything under the sun that doesn't fall into a specific category listed on this site.

There are 2 scenarios here... We bring it back a little bit, and try and keep our posts/threads a little more SFW. Or we let the place deteriorate until the admins decide to can OT.

I think the... "1 bad apple and everyone suffers" approach would work a lot better if you actually had someone to blame. It punishes that one person more severely than getting banned, and the people get mad at him or her, not the mods, for ruining the thread.
