best swap in the world

Alright so I just went through the threads and didnt see much in the way of this swap. As we all know diesel is starting to become the best way to go but we also know the 1.6na diesel blows.
Weve got a 97 passat tdi with only 170k on it (still new) Right now theres a debate on wether the sub frame is going to fit from the passat into the mk2. I've read that its wider slightly while at the same time some will claim it to work.
We're a few days away from clearing away some room in the shop (hoist is blocked big time by tires) but it'd be nice to have some opinions on the matter. I will get some measurements and pictures when the hoist is open.
Got a lot of stuff on the go. Might just make this a build thread so stay tuned.

Don't bother with the subframe - just swap the motor & trans over with ancillaries, including shifter and pedal box. Keep the mk2 subframe, suspension & axles. The Passat wiring should be almost P&P in a CE2 mk2 too, although not so much for a CE1.
Throw an Audi engineer down a hole with a ladder and he will fashion a shovel from it and tunnel his way out

Ah shame. I think the Passat one is wider. The mk3 one fits if you grab the rear motor mount and bracket.
