start at zero. make your adjustments from there once you verify your back up and running.
why did you get a cam gear? most people purchase them for a specific reason (torque, hi-end, lo-end, etc). that will dictate your adjustment.

That is so true. I have a bunch hanging on my wall including a Franco, Dial-In-Cams, Oettinger, Drake and others.....oh you meant on their cars
Unless your heavily built or have a need, typically an adjustable cam is not needed unless your looking for a specific power band in a specific range.
Where they come in really handy is when you either mill the head, the block or both. Cam timing retards when the head or block is milled. You can reset your cam timing back to zero with an adjustable cam gear.

run it at 0. aftermarket cams are made to make power at certain revs adjusting the cam timing will f*ck all that up
