So I've always been super OCD about taking car of my cars, keeping it clean, maintenance and such; but I figured it's time to really put both feet in to detailing. So I picked up the following:

Griots Garage 6" Random Orbital w/ 25 Foot Cable

Car Care Organizer Bag - really helps to keep everything organized and transporting to and from the car (needless to say the gf is super happy about this one since she's able to get part of the 'car closet' back.

Menzerna Super Finish (Nano) PO 106 FA

    Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant

    P21S Concours Carnauba Wax

I also picked up some Lake Country CSS 6.5" pads, black, grey, and blue.

Generally speaking I was planning on following the below process

    1. Clay down the car
    2. Menzerna Super Finish w/ Blue Pad
    3. IPA Wipe Down, not quite sure on this mixture as this is new to me...
    4. Wolfgang Sealant w/Black Pad
    5. P21S w/Grey Pad

I'm sorta second guessing my pad selection, will they work with these products?
For the IPA wipe down, what works best?
Do I need to apply a glaze after polishing?

Unless your paint is near perfect your not going to get a lot of results out of the Menzerna/Blue pad combo.

IPA wipe down is done with w 50/50 mix of IPA & water spritsed on from a spary bottle & wiled off.

Sealants don't work well over glazes.

I would respectfully suggest you do some reading / research before trying to second guess what products and pads to use and the techniques for their application

After some more reading it sounds like I should be using the orange or white pad would be better. I errored initially to use the blue just to be safe.

    Thanks

You would also be better off with a 5" backing plate and 5.5" FLAT pads rather than the CCS pads. On your initial order of a 6 pack of 5.5" pads you save enough to purchase a 5" backing plate and from then on you save $15 ever time you order 6 pads as opposed to 6.5" pads. Even with the power of the Groits correction will go faster with the smaller pads. I would suggest you read, read, read and watch some polishing videos. There is a lot of info here: http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/...-phillips.html

A great polish for beginners is HD UNO Advanced Cut http://hdcarcare.com/
On hard VW clear it cuts, polishes and finishes depending on pad choice, speed, pressure etc and finishes down lSP ready. You only need to buy one product for $20 and it is totally dustless. Very user friendly.

Not as intimidating once you have some basic knowledge in how everything is supposed to work.
