I've never been able to add veggies to shakes without it tasting like vegetables.

I have been on a fruit-vegetable shake diet but I wonder what else I can add to the concoction so it won't taste too leafy.

if you are using a juicer, try adding half a lemon or a quarter of a grapefruit and half a granny smith apple.

Spinach. A big handful. You don't taste it at all!

I'll third this. I was making wacky shakes for a few months and had success with baby spinach, frozen broccoli, and frozen carrots. Kale can work also but it has a much stronger flavor than spinach. A small amount of beet may work for you as it will add some sweetness.
Be careful with the fruit shakes though. Too much fruit and they turn into glucose bombs. A scoop of protein powder in your shake goes a long way towards helping you feel full after a shake. Zero protein isn't a healthy way to live even in the short term.
