Does the 1998 Volkswagen Cabrio have one? the air that comes through my vents smells of exhaust and nastiness.

I bought a filter but can't find where it would go, I opened up the plastic covering underneath the windshield to find an opening with a mesh top on it, there is nothing inside of this and the air filter that I bought from germanautoparts is far too large to fit anywhere in this.

Will take pictures tomorrow if needed.

See pages 0-19 and 80-6, Fig 6. in your Bentley.

If your Cabrio isn't already equipped with a dust and pollen filter, GAP has an upgrade kit.....

My 99 has a filter in the tray...want a pic of it?
I pulled the passenger side rain cover off the tray to get to the ecu. the filter was under there as well.

That'd be great if you could do this for me!

Look at this thread if you're interested in putting a MK IV (or MK IV style) filter into your car, gives you a step by step DIY for it. The parts are even available at GAP...
