If you do not ever buy a print magazine anymore, check this one out nonetheless. They're really outdone themselves. There is something, literally, for EVERYONE in this issue. If you still think the Brit mags are the best, think again. MT Classic is THE finest ink-and-paper magazine in existence, and is worth every cent of its steep price (it's a quarterly, and very heavy with content, though). Unfortunately a photo of the cover is not available now, but it has a stunning view of the early sixties Plymouth "XNR" concept car that sets the tone for what's inside. (Spoiler: For Porsche lovers, there is a feature-length article on the development and evolution of the Type 901 that is the best I've yet seen, and I've seen 'em all. They add to the fun with a gorgeous photo spread of the "ur" Type 901 coupe of '64, and also a very rare look at the first 912 prototype (known colloquially as the "356D").

Support this great magazine. Buy it. Then, LOVE IT.

    The Plymouth XNR:

You know, I bought an issue of this magazine some time ago. I was shocked at the register to find out the price was $15! IMO, there are more entertaining ways to spend $15 on car magazines so I haven't bought another issue since. That's not to say it's a bad magazine, just a lot of loot.

It is a lot of money, but it's not so much a magazine as it is a journal. It's only published quarterly and the photography and content is unmatched. Much better than Hemmings Classic Car, IMO. MT goes to great pains to not only shoot the cars well, but to shoot them in context. I recall an article from several years ago about a Cadillac and a Lincoln from the 1950s. The backdrop was Frank Sinatra's MCM ranch-style house in Palm Springs. Just stunning work.

My sub ran out but I will be sure to pick this one up the next time I'm in B&N. Thanks, Larry.

I picked up a copy for the first time a few months back and was amazed at how well written it was, with good overall content and photos as well. But what surprised me the most was that it was written by the same staff as the regular, monthly Motor Trend. How one of their magazines is so well written while the other seems pointed at 12 year old boys is amazing.

Quality always finds an audience, even in a place like TCL. You'll enjoy it.

The XNR, huh? That was on the cover of Octane, a British mag, the same month this issue came out:

I got home and thought I'd bought two copies of the same magazine, a not-insignificant concern when the two come to $25.

Thanx for finding a picture of the cover. How about that engine in the XNR? 250hp from a 170 cube slant-six; that's impressive.

I just finished reading the Pontiac Banshee article and the piece about the Countach and 512BB Ferrari. Excellent stuff. The photo gallery of American racers in Europe in the late fifties is STUNNING. Looking forward to reading the article about the supercharged, 4-on-the-floor Studebaker Wagonaire R2 this evening.

I take this magazine in small doses, so the enjoyment lasts longer.

I tend to read straight through, which makes the wait longer . This and Classic Porsche (an occasional mag from 911 & Porsche World, I think) are two mags I wish came out more often.

as I subscriber the first time around, I was surprised they never sent me any marketing for v2.0, and to be honest, I had forgotten v2.0 even existed until this post.

If you enjoyed the first go-round of MT Classic, then this issue is a great place to renew your association. It really is superb.

I have that issue. I'll buy the new one win I can afford it (currently broke), but I am more partial to Classic & Sports Car. Got hooked on that when living abroad.

I wish there was an easy way to sell back-issues of Classic & Sportscar magazine. I have every single issue from 1988 to about 2004, when I stopped reading it, and they're all in perfect condition. Checking in ebay, they are being bid-opened at anywhere from $4.95 to the mid-twenty dollar range. I stopped reading simply because of their repetitous nature; the featured cars get recycled about ever ten years or so. No need for redundant copies of such an expensive (albeit excellent) magazine.

This mag is worth every penny--time to go buy the new one

<< young guy who still loves print There's something special about nice, thick, glossy paper, compared to holding an iPad (and I own an iPad too).

Picked this up at the airport for my trip to Mumbai this week. Worth every penny; thanks for the tip Larry.

It's nice to see photos and writing of this quality. While I subscribe to some of the common monthly magazines, the writing and the photography generally leaves much to be desired.

Edit: Also, the price is high because there is remarkably little advertising. It's almost entirely content.
