Oil return line?

The oil return pipe on my '04 1.8T Jetta was about to disintegrate so I ordered 06A145735AA from ECS Tuning to replace it. I went to install it today and the lower fitting (the one that goes into the oil pan) is at the wrong angle. There is a braided stainless steel flex section that allows some play but not nearly enough...it kinks if I twist it so the lower fitting fits into place. It does not remotely compare to the angle of the lower fitting on the old part. Any insight appreciated...

It is purportedly OEM. I'm more inclined to say that it's the turbo oil return line for a variation on my engine (i.e. the wrong part). It seems unlikely that a part would be this defective.

Dub-Nub and babarber you are correct. The line I need is P/N 06A145735AB for '04 1.8T Jettas and later (hybrid oil pan). Wish I could read...

I noticed the old oil return line that I took off had no gaskets but ecs has gaskets. What's up with that?

you need a gasket, period.

did you get to install this yet? how easy is it? do you have to remove anything to get to it especially the top part? this oil return line for my car is rusted too and i will need it replaced soon. thank you for your feedback.

Here are the steps to replace this
(i am not responsible for any damages caused by following these steps)

Lift car and make sure its sturdy
Drain oil
Remove inner CV splash shield that is directly under turbo
Remove two bolts holding return line to turbo (5 or 6 mm allen)
Remove two bolts holding return line to oil pan (5 or 6 mm allen)
Install is reverse with gaskets


I could recommend installing the turbo side of return first as its less space.

Remove two bolts holding return line to oil pan (5 or 6 mm allen)
Install is reverse with gaskets
