Thread: Premature Service Notification?

  1. 04-28-2012 06:32 PM #1
I have a 2012 A3 with 13,500 kms on it, and just the other day the service notification appeared to let me know that service will be due in 1000 kms or 153 days. According to Audi's service intervals, service is scheduled at 8K kms and the next one at 25K kms. I had the 8K service done some time ago, so I don't know why this message would be appearing. Am I missing something?

sounds like it's a minor service indicator. IE, fluid changes.

Sounds like the dealer forgot to reset the service interval when they did your 8km service.

Do Audi's have the "severe service conditions" logic in the ECU. That's the logic that monitors your car to see if it's being used in a way that would need earlier servicing. A friend's Volvo (yeah, I know, "friends don't let friends drive volvos") had the service reminder come on every 2000 miles because of a fault in the ECU. The dealership never did figure it out.

I thought maybe that was the case, but I would have expected it to come on far sooner than 5000 kms after the scheduled 8K service. Is that normal, if the indicator isn't reset?
