seriously dude?
a crank alone will net you a tiny bit of torque, maybe 15-20ft-lbs. I really want to flame you right now but I am not gonna.

the temptation is very much there!
hes one of them "i saw one on youtube, now i wanna build one!" kinda newb.. someone who should be driving a civic, instead of abusing a VW.
and whats wrong with using the 2.0T block/crank/rods/pistons, and slapping the 20v head on it?
isnt that how you do a 20/20 swap?
isnt putting a 2.0 crank in a 1.8 block basically accomplishing the same thing, but with more work? isnt the 1.8 block basically the same dimensions as the 2.0 block?

You cannot just slap a 20v head on a 2.0 block. If you change the crank in a 1.8t you will need different pistons and will give you more torque and ultimately more power. Prob not worth it unless you will be upgrading turbo and such

this should be in the 1.8t forums where this has been done a billion times before.
the car that makes 335 on 12psi..is not jsut a crank switch. as stated it owuld need timign gear and chain swap, rods, rings, pistons, bearings, etc. but also a turbo upgrade to make that power...and 12psi with a 2.0l 20v motor is gonna be with a 30r more than likely, and it probably has some other goodies.

GPO in Nashville made a 2.0T from a 1.8T and awd conversion in 03 GTI. Makes 405 to the ground at about 25psi. Any more boost and it just gets stupid to drive.
