I'm debating on which CAI to purchase for my new 2012 CC. All the feedback so far on the APR CAI is that it doesn't do anything by itself.....you need to do the ECU tune to actually see any results.

People have mentioned that they heard and felt NOTHING with the APR. Just wondering if anyone has installed the AWE one and since they claim 13hp gains at the crank....then maybe its actually worth looking into.........suggestions / comments.......They also sell the turbo return pipe that also shows gains of about 6hp...........thanks members!

Tune + intake = better results than intake + stock tune

The tune is the biggest bang for the buck as far as adding power
    Downpipe would be next
    And then intake

    T.O.P. was already discussed here:
    http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...et-Pipe-Review

It's a "last thing to add" mod...after you've done the tune, downpipe, intake, etc.

The gains of 6hp....you won't see that on a stock tuned or even stock (K03) turbo'd car.....that was on their K04 (bigger turbo) project car
You might see better turbo response...that's about it....minimal though

    Agree with Dan.

If you're looking at different brands, though, AWE makes good products. They are just pricey as hell. They are about an hour from me so it's nice to have them nearby. I has an AWE exhaust on my old S4 and loved it. They are also closely affiliated with GIAC for software. Just FYI.

I emailed him......is he well experienced? I don't want just anyone to start programming my car. I know that Stevers Auto charges $62.50 for programming......I guess when you have more than just one thing, it's worth it, like my license plate and being able to operate the windows with my remote.... What else are you seeing people do with VagCom??? Not performance wise but things like what I discussed.

Did you have a chance to make it out to Steve's? Any updates?

Im really pleased with the AWE offering for the CC, I have their CCB/AWE intake, Downpipe, Catback exhaust as well as their S3 FMIC all running on a stage 2 APR 93 Tune. It really woke the car up and I cant wait to go K04. Its all on a 2012 Rline

Yup...I'm Stage 1 as of last Thursday.
Crappy part....Steve's upped their "labor fee" to $120 (up from $80)

As for that guy....I haven't met him, but he's the only local guy I know of. And for the simple things you wanna change thru VagCom....you really can't screw it up (unchecking or checking boxes in the modules).
    Plus he only charges $10

As for VagCom mods....the only ones I have done:
    The DRL's off
    Windows up/down from key fob
TPMS off (if you ever wanna change wheels or run winter wheels/tires)

There's some sunroof closing stuff, or fogs on with the high beams but I don't have a sunroof and don't have fog lights on my Sport...lol

I had the seat belt chime turned off. Sunroof close is part of the windows up, I think. At least it was for my old Audi. Just closed the windows and the sunroof at the same time, but doesn't work the other way. You can open windows with fob but not the sunroof.

If you're interested, Kareem, you can even purchase Vag-Com yourself. You just need the cable and software from RossTech. Then you can make all the changes you want any time you want.

True you can buy the VagCom for ~$300, but these are things you'll only change/set 1 time & that's it

And for $10 versus $300.....I'd just pay the $10, and use the $290 towards other mods

Now if you go crazy with mods, don't have a warranty, or a crap load of miles or issues with your car....THEN buying the VagCom might be a good idea for diagnosing stuff

Right, I was just throwing it out there. I wouldn't get it either. I have friends who have it and can get stuff done for free. Kareem, I would suggest that you start frequenting the regional forums and attending some local GTGs and make some friends in your local VW/Audi scene. You'll get more out of the VW ownership experience that way and truly enjoy your car more. Plus you'll learn more from seeing things first had and get to see other cars than just your CC. Local connections are always a plus, too.

Thanks for the suggestion buddy... I just met up with a guy that does this work (Vag Com) for $10. I programmed my windows and sunroof to operate with the remote, Convenience blinkers now blink 5 not 3 times. Emergency braking where my rear lights flash when abs kicks in, DRL option to turn off or on is now in my MDI menu...etc.
