it's 1.25 not metric. I had no issues... Here are pics with my Thule 912XT.

Is it really 1.25" or is it some metric equivalent?
I tried to install Thule Apex 9025 on the hitch, and it's about 1-2mm too small
Trying to figure out if it's the Thule 9025, or the trailer hitch itself.
Since I didn't buy the Thule rack from the auto dealer, thus I am a little concern that the VW dealership might blame Thule.

I have the factory hitch receiver that came with my 2012 SEL. I bought a 1 1/4 inch ball mount with 2 inch ball on Amazon, made by Master, the lock company. It was nice and snug, bit fit with no problem. I also bought the Reese 7 to 4 pin plug converter. Its shaped like a cylinder, about 2 1/2 inches long It fits perfectly too.

Measure the opening on the hitch and the outer of the Apex. One of the two has to be off.... What does a ruler show as to be the defective part?

sorry for the slow response...
after two warranty replacements from Thule, it fit perfectly now.
The Thule Apex 9025 is really awesome!

Some measurement problems from thule's end??? I'm looking to upgrade my MXwhatever it is (hold two) to something that holds four. Might look at the apex series.

oh and here is the photo of the first hitch that didn't fit.
from the top down, it's obvious why it won't fit.

Looks sharp. When the boys get older and I need to move from a two to four, will def be looking at these Apex series ones.
