So I have a friend with a MK5 R32 that did a lot of custom stuff to his car and no longer needs his battery box. He sold me all the stuff for the battery box and supporting hardware for $75 dollars. I was wondering if anyone could offer me some insight on what gauge cable I would need to run the positive wire to the engine bay and whereabouts I would route it. Any places to get the stuff would be good as well. I am thinking car stereo setup wire would be good? TIA for your input.

Just get welding cable, it is 0 gauge. It has more strands so much more flexible, and has less resistance.

Look up my tread "I want one of these in my car..." There is a li-po battery that weighs just 6lbs, pretty much eliminating the need to move the battery at all.

Now mind you, your way is MUCH MUCH cheaper.
