so my idler pulley(s) are totally F***ED and wore down my serpentine belt from 5 ribs to 3 ribs. they look all bubble-ey and deformed, as if they got too hot or something and the edges on them are chewing up the belt, so they need to be replaced. i was curious if the pulleys from any other VAG motor are the same size/will fit in place of the stock ones.
was just curious, as the local junkyard has a LOT of wrecked VW's with good motors.
any input, negative or positive is appreciated

you actually should be able to get that at most part places, or at least they should be able to order it in a week or so. Dayco, Gates, Goodyear etc. all make replacement idlers for the G60.

As for parts interchange with that pulley. early 90's Eurovan/Transporter 5cyl, and G60's only. But I think an idler from a Audi 80 or 90 V6, will also fit.

Recently replaced mine. I'd check the classifieds for a used set. I had the same question you did. I even called the dealer to ask them about other vws that use the same pulley, no luck.

I'm not sure if any other vw's have the same idler pulley at least in the same size... I do however knows its super easy to replace! Watch out taking the tension spring off though.
