Thread: Touareg TDI sport question

  1. 04-29-2012 12:10 AM #1
Currently I'm in a Golf TDI. Seriously thinking about trading it in on a Treg. 50 grand is my max. For those of you with the Treg TDI sport how do you feel about paying 47-50 grand for a ride w/out leather? I know it's pretty well loaded otherwise, but, this is a concern. I will also be cross shopping the A4 allroad (i don't have anything to tow, just want the utility of a wagon or SUV w/ DECENT gas milage, thus, the TDI touareg).

The V-tex is very good quality, washes easier than leather and will probably hold up better in the long run. I have no regrets.

"Loaded" is a matter of perspective. I traded two Mercedes E-class for my TDI Sport, and it's been rather a disappointment. Don't miss the leather, the perforated Naugahyde upholstery itself is satisfactory. Looks like leather, just doesn't smell like it. Definitely miss the memory seats and mirrors though. And esthetically, brushed aluminum trim is simply no replacement for wood. Natural ventilation is poor without a sunroof/moonroof because of the unbearable noise that results from opening either/both rear window while underway. If you've got big feet, you'll hate the small driver footwell. The audio system positively sucks, and the mapping software seems slanted more toward city drivers than we poor country folk.

The list goes on, but these items are typically at the top of my list. If I had to do it all over again, I could have avoided this disappointment by springing for at least the Lux - probably the Exec. Even though I've only got 13k on this Sport, I'm already looking at getting rid of it. Been talking to a couple Porsche dealers about trading up to the Cayenne diesel.

If you're interested in an "almost new" Sport, mine will be available till the 2013 Porsche diesels get here in August. The remaining warranty and 3/36 free service is 100% transferable, and I'll throw in the VCDS cable.

Yeah, you should have bought a Lux at the minimum. I recently traded in a 2007 ML for my Lux and it is actually better equipped than the MB. On a side note, when I let down both rear windows in the MB it sounded like a tornado so I think that is a common SUV issue. My second car is an E-class so I can imagine trying to replace it with a Sport. That wouldn't work.
