I recently purchsed a Pre-Owned 09 Tiguan
When cold.. shifting into Drive/Reverse it has a 2-3 Second delay.
Even when warm it does 2 seconds or so.
Is this normal?
This is common per se. Let's just say...it's not unusual or harmful for the transmission. On older car this may be a warning flag as it could mean hard seals, poor line pressure at idle, etc. However, with the 09G you likely have (unless you have the DSG, which it will say on the shifter knob if it is), this is simply an electronic artifact. There are ways to improve it, though the fastest results come from resetting the adaptive shifting program with the VCDS or bringing it to the dealer and having them reset it as well is set the kickdown/throttle body settings. There are other, slower techniques, but I will see if the latter is something you want to try before I explain them. Good luck!
