Thread: Say Bar Q's

  1. 04-29-2012 11:24 AM #1
Does anyone know of an upgraded beefy front sway bar that has a bend in the middle to clear a large downpipe?

No, never seen one, generally people make the exhaust fit the car, or spend days building larger tunnels to clear it. (which you can't easily do with the shift linkage in the way.

You could pad the exhaust with fiber glass wrap so it doesn't make too much noise, or you could fix the exhaust to fix properly.

I've seen weird sway bar set ups with the sway bar in front of the control arm mounts. I'm going to try and find pics.

which "stock sway bar" are you using?

gti/cabriolet front sway bars should fit normal exhaust

I don't think mine is close to the tranny. I'll look again tomorrow. It's like twice the dia of the stock one, and wraps around the front rad support perfectly leaves plenty of room out back for exhaust crap

looks like an addco front sway. I recently came up on one at the junkyard off a scirocco 1. The plates bolt into the bumper retaining bolts. Also an fyi, i just recently bought replacement hardware from addco directly for about 40 bucks IIRC.
