Anyone here know of folks that would make a custom air cleaner for a N/A diesel 1.6? Don't want to risk cutting up the original and ruining it. Need one similar to the original intake but with a 2.5 or 3 inch circular opening.

Can bring the original to their shops if need be. Thanks in advance.

Hey, many thanks, John. I had my n/a rebuilt and added a 2.25" exhaust, 1.8 gasser exhaust manifold and downpipe from techtronics, along with the modified injector pump for more HP (easy guys, it won't beat ya!!!!!!) for on road and up hills. Using the original 'snorkel' intake is defeating the purpose of the modified IP, and I have seen PVC setups slicing up the intake, but if I can get one made and just run a 2.5 or 3" hose to the front fender intake, it would probably work (and look) a lot better. I'm averaging 40-41 mpg, so I also tend to think that the extra air (along with some more miles to break it in) should increase the mpg factor.

Thanks again. I'll call them on Tuesday.

    Jimmy.

Run a g60 intake. Bahn brenner makes a 3.5" intake adapter.

Not too savvy with VW's so fire away. A G60 intake will fit on a 1.6 with this adapter you mention?

    Thank you.

Added link to bah brenner. Yeah any gasser intake will work. You'll need to block the cold start injector on any other 1.8 gasser intake.
