Need alittle help with a vin number please

Im doing a 5spd swap in my 1998 audi a4 1.8tq tiptronic. I need some parts but most the junkyards im calling they dont know wat there doing plus its stuff like clutch hardline snd stuff sooo my ? Is can i get someones vin number so i can give it to the dealership cuz they cant get parts without a vin cuz of the different years and splits. If someone can help i would be thankful

It much better if u find a parts car it self as there lots of parts u need and it would keep cost down if u sell parts off the car after because u can get a trany for 300$ but the other parts would run easly over a 1000$ if done right also if u doing the swap ur self u will learn alot befor the swap
any audi b5 that 1.8t and qutroooo will work v6 trany will work but will cost more in the end


my cost for my 5 speed swap the parts was around 600$ after parting the car out also new satge 2 clutch and rebuiled axles/drive shaft and few extras also that doesnt incl the labor

also I have found out that would need the 5 speed ecu too u can use the auto one and code it to 5 speed but u need the sck number if u can get it as it aeb and even if u code it to a 5speed u r still running the auto tune the power band and how it rev are driffent trus me I know

I new all tht but thanks for the reply, i have s4 pedals n linkage so far. With everything im getting its gonna be around 2300 but im doing tb,linkage upgrade new fluids and the stg 4 cm with lwfw so just the clucth,pp,lwfw is gonna be 1000 shipd so thts the most expensive part of it all but the most important part. Yea im doing this myself love the experence. Ima builder No madder wat the cost is ill build it reather than buy it. I also got a vin from the same year and everythig as mine down the road thts for sale. Im getting the clutch hardline from the dealership the rest local and well respected junkyards so thanks again
