I'm surprised any dealer is still able to sell these as msrp. The 2012 or 2013 R can be had for invoice without even negotiation in Houston.
If you look on autotrader, you will find some dealers with 3 or 4 2012s sitting on the lot.

Got it for 35792 and since I've bought 2 previous GTI's from the sales manager he never asked for a deposit.

What's invoice for a fully loaded 4dr? My manager quoted me $35,6xx...

Pasadena VW has a simple formula. Sticker price + $4000 to $4500 (listed on window of car as'dealer markup') depending on the options. That takes balls to slap a customer in the face so blatantly![]()

Got quoted invoice for a 2012. Worth it? Or should I go for a 2013?

For me, it would depend on the miles on the 2012. In my case, given how cars are often test driven, it was worth the extra $$ for the piece of mind knowing I was the only customer to have driven my car. I got to help take it out of its pajamas and then I drove the car into the service area. My salesman of many years drove the mile down the road to fill it with gas. Other than that, its been only me behind the wheel. I paid about $100 over invoice for mine in May; Tornado Red loaded 2 dr, just the way I ordered it.

My sales contact says the R is on a truck and on its way here...
