Not sure how you came to 31 MPG. Unless they changed the size of the fuel tank, a half tank is 9.25 gal (full tank 18.5 gal) which when multiplied by 31 one gets 286 miles. 340 miles for a half tank is closer to 36 MPG.
point of clarification.

We took our 2011 CC (DSG) out for its first long drive. Went from Las Vegas to San Diego. 340 miles on half a tank, 31 mpg at 80-85 mph. That mpg is based off the old calculator, not the car computer. Forget a Hybrid, I will keep a VW.

I always get between 30-32mpg @ 80-85mph (instant consumption readout on dashboard)

35 mpg (2011 CC Sport/DSG) traveling 65-68mph on interstate (using calculator, not car's computer).

36 MPG-Daily commute (15 miles rural/55 miles hwy) 70-75 mph....I can go 550 miles on a tank of gas.

I'm getting low 30's (30-32) in my '09 CC as well. I'm not sure how spot on the instant meter is as it can fluctuate a lot, but I'm thinking its fairly accurate.

Don't use the Instantaneous Consumption, use the Average Consumption (push your Ok button).
It varies a lot on how I drive, but when I want, I can get 32 to 34mpg on long hwy trips, that's with four people, loaded trunk, AC, and going 75 to 80mph.
My long term Average Consumption (over dozens of tanks of gas) in mixed driving is about 27.5mpg. And that's chipped. Very happy with the car's mpgs.

The OP's figures are similar to mine: 32 mpg @ 80 mph, flat highway for 100 miles, 93 octane, windows closed, A/C on.

I love the gas on my 2010 cc sport....I was using $400 a month on my trailblazer SS and that was lots of highway and being good now I'm using less than half of that with the ac blasting....and I only put chevron in all my cars

Do you run ethanol based fuel or non-ethanol?? There is a HUGE difference. The ethanol based fuel burns faster. I noticed almost 100 miles to a tank difference. (Ethanol 490/500 non ethanol 590/610) Same route, 90% highway.

Yeah..there is 10% in Florida too. Luckily, there is a station that still sells 93 non-ethanol down the street from me.

I get about 34 MPG on highway trips at 75 with the family of four. Around the burbs, to and from work, soccer, shuttle, etc... I get a consistent 22 MPG without ever actually getting any highway travel. This is all short trip low speed stuff. This may not sound great but I have Stage 1 and don't attempt hyper mile driving; just normal zipping around. Both of these numbers are at or above the sticker numbers. That is what is solid on the CC; unlike a number of other autos claimed MPG's the CC does what it says.
My old Infiniti M45X got about 13 to 15 MPG around town, at best. I do miss the V8 off the line punch but even with my limited miles, I will save over $850 iin fuel in the 1st year of driving. I fuel at Costco most times. Works fine.

I got 27 mpg driving 90-110 mph on a 105 mile trip. Coming back i averaged 36.5 mpg by going 60 the whole way. I love the gas mileage in the CC. I usually touch 24 or 25 mpg in the city if im gentle.
