driver side window wont go down i tried swapping the switches today with the one off the pass side which i know for a fact works. All i hear from the window motor is a clicking sound so i know its not the fuse any ideas?
i have a spare motor downstiars from a 2001 gti anyone know if itll fit just incase the motor is bad?

Did you open the door up to change the switch?


What I've been told is the plastic pulleys crack, get junk in them, etc and THAT is what makes the window stop most of the time.. so if you havent already opened your door up to look at it I'd suggest that first

Depends on the noise- I've had both break

If you just hear a click- it's the motor. If you hear the cable moving around it's the regulator. At least this was my situation.

IIRC the motor isn't the same as the GTI, but remember to hold the plastic regulator cable pulley in with a flathead when removing the motor or you'll be buying a regulator too eventually.
