Thread: Catch can set up need advice on lines

  1. 04-29-2012 11:23 PM #1
    I'm piecing together my catch set up. I've got a 42 stealth unit, IEs VC & crank breather pieces, but how do I do the lines? They need to be 10 an fitting lines because the breather pieces from IE are 10 an right? So does this mean I'm gonna need to have hoses made?
    I have a bunch of 3/4" hose, do I just need to get someone to press some fittings on for me? I've been looking around, but have had no success. I'll be damned if I'm using sh|tty worm gear clamps on this project. So done with those things.

    My advice...

    Call up 42dd.

    Ask them if you can return your stealth catch can. Hopefully it's still in mint condition so they can resell it.

    ...

    Have them sell you another stealth catch can, but have:
    * Top outlet - 3/4" barb
    * Bottom outlet - -10AN

    Also, buy the mk4 mounting bracket. Look at my catch can config. You basically attach it to the left of the drivers side headlight.

    From there you'll want:

    90 degree -10AN hose end off the block
    45 degree -10AN hose end off the valve cover
    (4) standard -10AN hose ends
    -10AN all male T fitting to bring the block and valve cover lines together
    Enough hose to run it all. I think about 10 feet will cover you with some spare. I'd personally go with some black nylon braided summit hose.
    For fittings the russell fittings are about the best bang for the buck out there.

    Then use some standard heater hose to go from the top nipple to your hockey puck. 3/4" will fit the hockey puck great. Sorry, but this will use two standard hose clamps. They make nicer ones than the junky looking standard worm gear ones if you look around. You'll want 2 hose clamps that can open up to 7/8".

    ...

    If I were to redo my 42dd stealth can, that's how I would do it.
