    Heres the deal.

    I have a garmin navi

I want to mount the navi where the purple arrow is pointing on a hinge, so that it can swivel down for use and swivel up to hide. I'm trying to make this look clean.

Here are my current Ideas.. after ripping apart my dash, it looks like there may be enough room to buy another piece (red arrow) and cut out the stuff I don't need. Then I can mount the navi on the inside of the little "pop up" hinge pice and insert the whole unit upside down in that area. I looked and from what I can see there may or may not be enough room.

    any other ideas/suggestions?
I was thinking and if they sell a unit like that one without a power outlet for a car charger, It would create more room and I could almost just fit the unit in the bottom piece and not have to worry about any cutting etc.
(the first picture is not my car, just used for reference, second pic is my car)

This is the unit im talking about in the up position

This is the unit in the down position

    Cheers.
